Lida Castle was founded by Gediminas in 1323. However, unfortunately, it did not survive in its original form until our time. During numerous wars, it was partially destroyed and then restored, but after the Northern War (1700-1721) it was completely destroyed. And after a big fire in Lida at the end of the 19th century, the remaining walls and other materials were used to rebuild the city.

Only about 20 years ago did they begin to restore and reconstruct the castle. It was a challenging task, as there were no detailed drawings or descriptions of the original structure. However, using historical documents and artifacts, architects and historians were able to reconstruct the castle to some extent.

Today, the castle stands as a majestic symbol of the city’s history and a testament to the strength and resilience of the people who live there. It is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world who come to admire the castle’s unique architecture and learn about its fascinating history.

Walking through the castle’s halls and chambers, one can feel a sense of awe and wonder at the ingenuity and creativity of the people who built it so many centuries ago. It is a reminder that even in the face of great adversity, humans have the capacity to create beauty and greatness.

5. It reminded me of a stadium. And it turned out to be not just a coincidence – during the Soviet era, there was indeed a small football stadium here. R. It’s great that the castle is being restored, but unfortunately, there’s not much to see or do there yet. There are two tower exhibitions that can be visited quickly, but other than that, there’s not much else to see. Despite this, the castle’s atmosphere is still captivating, and its history and architecture are worth exploring. As the restoration work continues, it’s exciting to think about what the castle’s future holds and the possibilities for future exhibits and events that will make it a vibrant part of the city once again.
